Graduate Diploma of Counselling
Counselling others to overcome problems in their lives is a rewarding and challenging career. If you already have a degree in any discipline and would like to gain a qualification towards becoming a Counsellor in just two years, study the Graduate Diploma of Counselling at ACAP to give you the practical skills you need. This program is PACFA accredited and can be studied by flexible delivery or on-campus in the CBD in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
You will learn to apply the theoretical and ethical foundations of counselling to a range of practical situations, while also learning about conflict management, Mental Health Issues and developmental psychology. If you choose to study solely by flexible delivery, you’ll need to attend three weeks of on-campus workshops to ensure you get the most from this interactive learning environment and meet PACFA’s training standards.

You may also choose to take this study further with advanced standing to the Master of Applied Social Science (Counselling) at ACAP.

Counsellor Development Workshops
Counsellor Development Workshops (CDWs) are a requirement for students in the counselling specialisation who have studied through Flexible Delivery, and not completed a minimum of 3 of the following modules on campus:
- Counselling Skills 1
- Counselling Skills 2
- Social, Legal & Ethical Issues
- Counselling in Loss
- Family & Relationship Counselling
Counsellor Development Workshops (CDWs) provide a highly dynamic and interactive opportunity to apply skills and knowledge. They consist of three individual one week workshops which include intensive exercises and activities designed to consolidate the integration of theory and practice.
