Strategic Management and Planning
Strategic Management and Planning provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the core elements of management from a strategic and planning perspective. Students examine the development of goals and objectives, business and management philosophies and models of decision-making. Students are guided in the development of skills and competencies to appropriately assess the variety and complexity of external and internal influences that affect an organisation's structure, culture and well being. They learn how to implement appropriate and effective strategic responses; to develop an understanding and familiarity with strategic planning theories and techniques; how to understand performance market trends and forces, how to analyse, evaluate and implement strategic alternatives; and to integrate the awareness of planning issues and ethical considerations into the overall task of strategic management and planning.

Unit Duration and Workload
This unit involves a total of 36 hours of face to face delivery of self directed study including educator contact in flexible delivery modes, generating a further 54 hours of self-study per unit including research and related study activities, including assessment. This translates to 7.5 hours per week for the unit.
