The Reflective Practitioner

The aim of this unit is to assist student to clarify their professional identity and potential contribution as a practitioner in your chosen field. It will assist you to position yourself within your chosen field of practice, and to articulate the principles and social awareness that underpin your professional worldview.
This unit consists of one assessment task that you will work on during the term and is therefore quite different to any others you have studied during your course. Rather than being divided into 12 study sections, this manual is primarily designed to assist you in developing ideas for, and writing, your assessment.
Student will be encouraged to explore and reflect on your professional identity, and to develop an understanding of your values, principles and strengths as a practitioner. You will also be asked to analyse your chosen field of practice to identify the potential career options and the further professional development required to help you meet your career goals.

Unit Duration and Workload

This unit involves a total of 36 hours of face to face delivery of self directed study including educator contact in flexible delivery modes, generating a further 54 hours of self-study per unit including research and related study activities, including assessment. This translates to 7.5 hours per week for the unit.
