Entry Criteria

Standard Entry

  • 1a. Successful completion in the past 10 years of a bachelor degree, or vocational graduate certificate, vocational graduate diploma, graduate certificate, or higher award (or equivalent) in a cognate area (e.g. counselling, psychology, health science, coaching,education); or
  • 1b. Successful completion in the past 10 years of an advanced diploma or associate degree in a cognate area combined with five or more years additional extensive relevant work experience; and
  • 2. Current employment in an organisation where the applicant is presently engaged or has been engaged in a mentoring role with elite athletes; and
  • 3. If English is not the applicant’s principal language, or the applicant has not completed a secondary or tertiary education in English the applicant must also provide evidence of an International English Language Testing System overall academic score of 6.5 or higher with no sub-score less than 6 or equivalent.

Special Entry

  • 1. Students who have a minimum of eight years prior experience in a relevant cognate area may be admitted on the basis of extensive relevant prior experience; and
  • 2. A potential to undertake study at an academic level appropriate to the level of the course; and
  • 3. Current employment in an organisation where the applicant is presently engaged or has been engaged in a mentoring role with elite athletes; and
  • 4. If English is not the applicant’s principal language, or the applicant has not completed a secondary or tertiary education in English the applicant must also provide evidence of an International English Language Testing System overall academic score of 6.5 or higher with no

An applicant whose qualifications and/ or professional experience are deemed by the College to fall outside the standard entry criteria would normally be required to apply for admission into, and successfully complete, the Graduate Certificate in Elite Athlete Mentoring and then apply for admission into the Graduate Diploma of Elite Athlete Mentoring. Students entering the Graduate Diploma after studying the Graduate Certificate will receive credit for units completed in the Graduate Certificate.

Why Study with ACAP?
Flexibility to study and work simultaneously. Our courses are delivered in a mix of on-campus and online modes to ensure that our students can continue to work while they complete their studies.
  • On-Campus (with an optional online component). On-campus study involves attendance at scheduled classes which may occur over a period of 12 weeks, or as block mode intensives, where the contact hours are condensed into whole day blocks. Students studying on campus will be able to access all core unit materials online through 'my.acap' the College's online learning portal. On-campus delivery is taught from the Melbourne ACAP campus, which is situated in a central CBD location.
  • Online. Some units will be available online. Online learning allows students to access course materials and readings through ACAP’s online learning portal ‘my.acap’. Students will be able to work through course materials and interact with classmates and lecturers via online discussions in the virtual classroom.
  • Small class sizes mean that students have more opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop key skills, in addition to getting to know their lecturers and fellow students.
  • A focus on mentoring and coaching Courses specifically designed in conjunction with industry experts to meet the needs of the sporting professions mean that ACAP is able to offer quality, targeted qualifications that meet student needs.
