Anick De RelandGraduate Diploma of Counselling Study mode(s): Brisbane Campus State: Qld Fieldwork placement:Relationships Australia Queensland I completed my fieldwork at the Logan branch of RAQ where I was exposed to a wide range of counselling fields, from Relationship counselling to Gambling. Experience at ACAP: The learning evironment was great. The experiential mode of learning was extremely helpful in developing counselling skills. The educators were very knowledgeable and made the modules interesting and challenging. There is a very positive atmosphere at ACAP Brisbane campus and the students got along very well. I was able to complete my course during the time limit that I had set myself and all efforts were made to assist me in adapting my program to suit my needs. How personally and or professionally benefitted from study at ACAP: Personally, I have a better understanding of the motives that underline people's behaviour. My level of tolerence towards my fellow human beings has increased greatly. I have also learnt the importance of listening to others. Professionally, I have gained a good understanding into all that is entailed in the profession of counselling, from the practical application of various modalities to the importance of supervision and all the social, legal and ethical aspects involved in the profession. How have you used your ACAP qualification? As I have just completed my studies, I am now actively seeking employment. My plan in regards to further studies is to complete my Masters in a year's time.
