I worked as a Sales Manager before studying on campus and through Distance Education at ACAP. When I attended an information evening in 1998, I sat near the door for an early exit. However, the glimpse I received of ACAP stimulated me into action. For four years I attended the Sydney Campus two nights a week plus occasional weekends. This brought me to the Advanced Diploma of Social Science level. For two years I studied by Distance to complete the Bachelor degree.

What encouraged me to attend so many classes, when I live at Lake Macquarie? I found that no matter how tired I felt at the beginning of a class, by the time it was time to go home I was buzzing! (Nothing beats a drug free high). The combination of several components provided this adrenalin rush which is common to many of my fellow students. Dedicated educators ensured a continual smorgasbord of experiential events during each class. This, mixed with adult learning and small class sizes of motivated students, ensured many learning experiences. It is almost as if a guarantee that every sense would get stimulated! This meant that of course, every student would participate. Combined with useful and practical notes, texts and shared experiences within the class, much learning was always achieved. The educators were always willing to spend extra time or be contacted outside of class times. The support staff at the College was always happy and willing to discuss any relevant concern.
