Description of your fieldwork placement: I was working in the field of Disabilities at the time of my placement and completed my practicum in this area. Highly instructive and beneficial.

Experience at ACAP:
My ACAP experience was overall very good. ACAP is highly regarded as a specialist counselling school. The educators are experts in their fields and practicing professionals. I have continued my association with ACAP by providing future practicum places at my work place and using an ACAP educator for my professional supervision.

How has ACAP benefited you personally or professionally?
ACAP allowed me to study in a flexible manner, whilst working and applying what I learn in a real time environment. I am continuing my learning by undertaking various one day and short course programs in areas of interest and by working through a specialist Masters at Sydney University in developmental disabilities.

How have you used your qualification? I'm now working as a counsellor with Epic Community Services working with clients that have a disability or are disadvantaged. Client issues range form GAD, GID, Anxiety, Depression, Agoraphobia, Bi-Polar, Schizophrenia, Sexual abuse, Domestic violence. I now also have my own private practice.

I had reached a point in life where I wanted to work with people in a meaningful way. This course will allow me to use all my life experience, make a living and be fulfilled as a human being. It has given me stability in an uncertain world.
