Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology
The Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology is a new qualification in Australia and provides you with the 5th year of the 5th and 6th years of professional training required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia. It is recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), and is accredited with the NSW Department of Education and Communities.
Graduates of this course can then complete an additional one-year Psychology Board of Australia -approved internship to have the 5th and 6th years of training required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.
The GradDipProfPsych includes coursework and practical placements and is sequenced to promote an integration of knowledge and skill development. Students will complete a minimum of 300 hours of practical/skills training and receive at least one hour of supervision per 7.5 hours of practical work. The practical/skills training is completed at our on-campus clinic and/or at external locations.
Those who complete the GradDipProfPsych with a distinction average may apply for entry to the Master of Psychology (Clinical) qualification and may apply for credit for up to eight units.

According to Graduate Careers Australia the overwhelming majority of psychology graduates find employment, and the five year trends show that the employment prospects and salaries are improving. Job Outlook notes that job prospects for psychologists are good, with strong growth in employment expected to 2015-16.
