Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and Graduate Diploma of Psychology
- Fourth year psychology qualifications recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.
- Complete in one year full-time or two years part-time.
- Students complete an independent research project under supervision as well as advanced coursework.
Entry Requirements
- Completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited 3 year sequence within the last 10 years
AND - Achieved a credit average in second and third year units, including a credit in the majority of psychology units
Application Process
- Download, complete and submit your application using the form available on the website. Applications received by 31 October 2012 will be considered for first round offers. Applications after 31 October 2012 will be accepted but offers will only be made to qualified candidates on the basis of availability of places.
- First round offers will be made by 7 December 2012.
- Applicants who receive first round offers need to respond in writing by 4 January 2013 to confirm a place for 2013.

Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology
- New qualification in Australia that provides the 5th year of the 5th and 6th years of professional training required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.
- Recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and accredited with the NSW Department of Education and Communities.
- Complete in one year full-time or two years part-time.
Entry Requirements
- Completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited four-year undergraduate sequence within the last 10 years;
- Be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as provisional psychologists; OR
- Hold full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and meet the Board's Continuing Professional Development requirements

- Interviews with shortlisted candidates will be undertaken from 26-30 November 2012.
- First round offers will be made by 14 December 2012.

Master of Psychology (Clinical)
- Provides a 5th and 6th year sequence of professional training in psychology required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.
- Recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists and is accredited with the NSW Department of Education and Communities.
- Complete in two years full-time or four years part-time.
Entry Requirements
- Have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited four-year undergraduate sequence within the last 10 years with a grade of second class Honours (2A) or higher (or equivalent overall mark);
- be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as provisional psychologists;
OR - hold full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and meet the Board's Continuing Professional Development requirements.

Mature Age Student entry to Bachelor of Psychological Science
- Submit your application using the online online form available from here.
- Include a 500 word statement about why you want to study Psychology at ACAP. The aim of the statement is to ensure that students who enrol in the degree have a clear and accurate understanding of what they can expect to be learning in the Bachelor of Psychological Science and of the careers available to graduates of the degree. Your statement will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- your understanding of the discipline of psychology, and of the knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete a psychology degree.
- your reasons for choosing this degree, and where you believe it will lead you;
- your understanding of what distinguishes the training you will receive in the Bachelor of Psychological Science from what you might expect from undergraduate degrees in related fields, such as undergraduate degrees focused on counselling.
- your writing ability and clarity of expression
- You will be notified either that you are invited to an interview with staff of the School of Psychological Sciences or that your application is unsuccessful. The interview will explore further your suitability for the course and the suitability of the course for you. Interviews are held by telephone.The interview will allow you to expand on your 500 word statement, in particular concerning.
- your understanding of the definition of the discipline of psychology as 'science based '
- what it is about you that you believe suits you to study psychology (e.g., your skills, your personal experiences, your work history)
- your goals after completing the three year Bachelor of Psychological Science at ACAP
The interview will also allow you to meet staff and raise any questions that you may have about the Bachelor of Psychological Science.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application in writing.
Scholarships Selection Criteria
There are up to eight scholarships available for students undertaking the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences in 2013.
Scholarships will cover fees for the units of study required to complete the degree. Students can apply for scholarships in one or more of the following areas:
- Academic excellence awards (two scholarships)
- Rural/regional awards (two scholarships)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander awards (two scholarships)
Two additional scholarships may be awarded in any of the categories above.
Scholarships will be awarded by the School of Psychological Sciences Scholarship Committee taking account of the following:
1. Academic excellence awards
a. Academic achievement
b. Applicant's 500-word statement giving the reasons for wanting to study psychology
c. A one-page statement (maximum) with additional information relevant to the application. This may include evidence of breadth of interests and achievements (e.g. music, sport, creative arts) or evidence of community involvement and leadership. Additional information of more than one page will not be considered.
2. Rural/regional awards
a. Evidence of home residence in an area that meets the ABS criteria for rural, remote or regional Australia.
b. Academic achievement
c. Applicant's 500-word statement giving the reasons for wanting to study psychology
d. A one-page statement (maximum) with additional information relevant to the application. This may include evidence of breadth of interests and achievements (e.g. music, sport, creative arts) or evidence of community involvement and leadership. Additional information of more than one page will not be considered.
3. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander awards
a. Evidence of adherence to criteria for membership of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
b. Academic achievement
c. Applicant's 500-word statement giving the reasons for wanting to study psychology
d. A one-page statement (maximum) with additional information relevant to the application. This may include evidence of breadth of interests and achievements (e.g. music, sport, creative arts) or evidence of community involvement and leadership. Additional information of more than one page will not be considered.
Application Process
- Submit your application for enrolment in the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences using the online form available from here and your application for a scholarship by 4 January 2013.
Note: both of these applications need to be received by 4 January 2013 but they do not need to be submitted at the same time. - By 11 January 2013 you will be notified of the outcome of your application for entry to the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences, and, if you are offered a place, you will be notified of the outcome of your scholarship application.
- By 18 January 2013 you need to respond in writing to confirm a place in the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences for 2013.
Conditions of Award
- Offers of scholarships are valid for the year of offer only. A new application for a scholarship must be submitted if the offer of a place in the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences is deferred.
- In general, continuation of scholarships in each trimester is dependent on students passing all units of study in the previous trimester of study.
