Psychologist Registration

The Next Step in Your Career

The Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) offers a two-year part-time Psychologists Registration Supervision Program which meets all requirements for registration as a psychologist, as specified by the Psychologists Registration Boards in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. The program includes work placement, individual and group supervision, training workshops, psychological testing and all certificates.

The Program meets the supervision and work experience criteria of interns interested in all areas of psychology. Interns have the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience in multiple aspects of psychological practice.

A Certificate in Psychological Practice will be awarded to those interns completing all relevant State Board requirements.

Combined programs are available with ACAP's Graduate Diploma of Counselling or a Master of Applied Social Science (Counselling).

Three specialist strands are available

1. Counselling

The application of interpersonal communication and interviewing skills to facilitate change in clients, utilising a variety of therapeutic techniques.

2. Community & Clinical Psychology

Understanding the psychological functioning of individuals and groups within a community and clinical context and utilising the skills of diagnosis, treatment formulation and important issues that commonly arise in a community / clinical setting.

3. Organisational Psychology

The study and application of psychological theory and practice to organisations in corporate, government, commercial and industrial settings.

Combined Programs

In addition to completing your registration as a Psychologist, you now have the opportunity to combine this training with one of the degrees at the College. The combined program attracts a reduction in fees. FEE-HELP is also available for these courses.

I completed the combined Registration Program and Graduate Diploma of Counselling. Through ACAP, I was able to find placements that suited me and was offered employment at one of them. Having the opportunity to discuss any learning or questions with my primary supervisor helped me to grow professionally. Through secondary supervision I was also able to learn how to perform specific testing and use these in my practice. The support and availability of my supervisors made me feel more confident in the work environment and able to communicate my role as a Psychologist.
