LibraryThe mission of the ACAP Library is to provide quality services and resources to support and enhance the teaching, learning and scholarship of the ACAP community. The College provides access to library collections and services at each of its campuses. Library staff assist students across all modes of study with their information and research needs. ACAP Library is a member of the UNILINC network. Computer, Internet, printing and photocopying facilities are available at all ACAP libraries and a postal lending service is available to students studying by Flexible Delivery. The Library catalogue is available online at: http://aleph.unilinc.edu.au/acap. Library eResources Access details and further information about ACAP's online journal databases and other eResources can be found in the Library eResources section of http://my.acap.edu.au . Library eResources include ; Counselling and Therapy in Video (CTIV), EBSCO Psychology and Behavioural Sciences Collection, EBSCO Business Source Elite, INFOTRAC Custom Journal 250 and over 2000 titles in the ebrary Psychology and Social Work electronic book collection. ACAP Information Skills Online All students are encouraged to use ACAP Information Skills Online, an interactive web-based tutorial designed to help students develop research and information skills. These short online modules require no additional log-ins or passwords: http://www.web-ezy.com/acapweb-ezy/. Current ACAP Information Skills Online modules are: 1. Searching the EBSCOhost journal database 2. Searching and using the main features of the Library catalogue 3. Plagiarism and Copyright 4. How to create reference list using the APA style Borrowing from ACAP Libraries On-campus students can borrow 5 items for a period of 2 weeks. Fully DE / Online students can borrow 5 items for 3 weeks. Masters students can borrow 6 items for a period of 1 month. Students can renew books and place hold requests online. To access your own record go to the library catalogue, click 'Sign-in' then the letters AP followed by your student number. The PIN is the last five digits of your student card barcode. If you do not have a student card please contact the library to get your PIN. Distance / Online Postal Borrowing Service ONLY available to students studying ALL modules Distance / Online Library books are posted to fully Online or Distance students free of charge; however, the borrower returns the books to the library at their own expense. Please don't rely on the Library to supply prescribed texts, as only limited copies are available for loan. To begin using the postal borrowing service, send an email to library@acap.edu.au with the words 'New DE/Online library user' in the subject line; include your full name and ACAP student number in the body of the email. A member of the library team will get back to you within one working day with your individual SIGN-IN and PIN. How to request books using the Distance / Online postal borrowing service To request books email library@acap.edu.au using the subject line 'DE/Online Book Request' and include the following information: 1. Your full name 2. ACAP student number 3. Book details: author, title, edition, call number (e.g. 303.69/TOL) Please include any personal details contact details that may have changed. Loan Renewals Items can be renewed a maximum of 4 times (except for items on hold for other students). Renewals can be placed on overdue items. Instructions on renewing loans are included in the 'Searching the Library Catalogue' module of ACAP Information Skills Online and in ACAP Library Guides. Hold requests Hold requests can be made on books out on loan and when no other copy is available. Instructions on placing hold requests are included in the 'Searching the Library Catalogue' module of ACAP Information Skills Online and in ACAP Library Guides. Overdue notices and fines Courtesy notices are emailed to students 2 days before an item is due, followed by notices at 4 and 14 days overdue. A block is put on borrowing rights (including renewals) when fines reach $50. To reinstate borrowing rights a minimum of $20 must be paid and fines must be reduced below $50. Fines are charged at $1 each day overdue per item. When a book is 21 days overdue a bill for replacement is issued. Replacement of items is charged at a flat rate of $80 + $20 processing fee (+GST) per item. Accrued fines remain payable on replaced items. If you have fines payable please contact library staff to arrange payment. A claim and appeal against the imposition of library fines can made by filling in a Request for Fines Exemption form and returning it to library staff. Inter-library loans Inter-library loans (ILL) are available at no charge to on-campus ACAP students from libraries in the UNILINC network. Electronic document delivery only is available to DE / Online students. To search for items in the UNILINC network use the UNILINC Shared Catalogue. On-campus Postgraduate and Masters students can also obtain ILLs from non-UNILINC libraries. To obtain an ILL, please contact your campus library.
