Academic Support

Our academic services are geared to provide students with the information and support they need to complete the academic requirements of our courses.

Academic skilling

Some students who enrol have not studied for many years or may be unfamiliar with the academic requirements to satisfy tertiary standards. Our academic staff and educators will provide personal support to assist individual students understand and prepare for assessments. Academic Skills Workshops are held regularly on Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne campuses, and cover a wide range of topics, such as essay writing, acknowledging sources and preparing reference lists.

Student Resources

A comprehensive Student Resources section is available to all students providing access to academic and administrative information. Use your Student ID and password to log in to Student Resources on the ACAP Online Learning System to see Student Support information such as course sequencing, employment opportunities and study skills materials.

Personal Support

No matter what course you undertake, life and study commitments can often place you in situations where you need extra support. The College endeavours to work with students to provide the assistance they need, when they need it.

Comprehensive support

Academic and personal support are available for students who are undergoing difficulties with their course or coping with study.  The College has experienced Counsellors and Psychologists ready to assist whenever the need arises.

In Sydney, the Counselling and Support Unit can also liaise with educators or staff on a student's behalf, when necessary, and provide referral information for ongoing support.

Student Support staff provide assistance with study skills and assessment writing strategies (my.acap login required).  These include:

  • individual writing consultations
  • understanding and planning assignments
  • structuring and writing assignments
  • research and referencing skills
  • time management
  • general study skills

The Student Support Counsellor provides short term counselling (up to 3 sessions a term).  Counselling sessions are normally 50 minutes in duration. The counselling service is a PROFESSIONAL and CONFIDENTIAL service and is provided FREE of charge to all students.

Counselling is provided for a range of issues including:

  • relationship difficulties
  • self-esteem
  • motivation
  • family issues
  • crisis

Whilst the counselling offered at ACAP is short term, an extensive referral list is available if you need further assistance.



Sydney Campus
Counselling is normallly available on Tuesday and Thursday by appointment from 9am - 5pm. Please contact Andrea Kroser, Student Support Counsellor, on (02) 9964 6355 or counselling@acap.edu.au. Academic and study skills support is available Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm, generally by appointment, however please drop past the Student Support office in case a spot is available. Brisbane Campus

Melbourne Campus
