If I were to say anything to those thinking about studying at ACAP, it would be this: of all the colleges and institutions that promise you the world, when it comes to learning, ACAP offers comprehensive programs, experienced, professional trainers, flexibility and excellent resources.
I shopped around for a good learning institution and the more I looked, the more ACAP came out on top.

I found ACAP to be one of the most nourishing experiences of education that I have embarked on. It has been a challenging journey, that has been guided by wonderful people. It helped me to discover some of my own truths, which is imperative to helping others discover their own.

Here at ACAP I'm given the opportunity to study amongst a close group of friends with whom I've grown through my course. I'm able to show my real personality and express it through the work I do here while still feeling comfortable amongst the people I'm with.
The best part is, the trainers really care and do their best to help.

I left school at 15 before completing the School Certificate. I married at 17 and started a family at 19. The only training I had done before ACAP, was a TAFE Certificate in accounting to assist in the family business. I was very nervous about studying but the support I received was terrific. Being able to build upon modules into a Certificate IV through to the Bachelors is a terrific advantage. I can set goals and achieve them. My plan is to have a counselling practice for children and families specialising in the area of grief and trauma. I have personal experience in this area and hope to be able to bring benefit to others.

The studies, combined with my previous work experience, have led me into a more satisfying role in an industry I know well. My studies have given me the confidence to manage a role where top notch "soft skills" are essential.

I see everything in a different, more positive light, I question more and learn more every day. My relationships with family, friends and acquaintances have improved dramatically. Managing people has taken on new dimensions. I have adopted many learnt ACAP skills to my work. I am sure the people I work with have also become better people for the experiences that have taken place.

I initially chose to study at ACAP for a number of reasons; the degree of flexibility, the highly experienced trainers and the focus on experiential learning. Now that I have actually commenced my studies, I am finding that ACAP is most definitely meeting all of my expectations. I have taken advantage of both the on-campus and distance education options for study. All of the trainers I have had have been very knowledgable and supportive, and the classes are highly interactive.

I studied on Campus at both Sydney and Brisbane. All my needs and expectations were met. Moving back and forth between each campus made my life easier as personal reasons dictated where I was to be each term. I also found online study interactive, supportive and interesting. As an entire package I would recommend ACAP to anyone who was interested in a career in human services.

Studying by Distance was practical, easy to follow, interactive and thorough.
Intensive Skills workshops were an invaluable component and provided me with an opportunity to network, validate my learning, practise newly acquired skills and observe and learn from the techniques, knowledge and experiences of others. I found the educators and College staff readily contactable, warm and generous in the time, resources and support they offered.

The College's flexibility made study more accessible to me. Due to changes in my life, I recently undertook modules Online. I have been impressed with the amount of communication I have with my educator. I have also gained close friendships with other students, enabling me to share my experience and therefore I have not felt alone in my learning.

I've found studying very stimulating - it simultaneously encouraged my self-development and professional development.
Summer School modules enable you to completely immerse yourself for a relatively limited time and really get into the subject matter. You come out with a new knowledge and skillset.

With regard to personal development, the environment at ACAP has been supportive and allowed me to become more assertive in my dealings with myself and others, both within and outside ACAP.

At ACAP I am gaining excellent training for my future profession by mixing with and learning from professionals with loads of experience. I was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 17. I really thought that this was the end of my education.
For the past six months that I have been studying at ACAP I really feel and know that the teachers, tutors and coordinators are there for me. Although I have not met them personally it feels like I know them all. The opportunity that is offered at ACAP is second to none, and it suits all people with or without a disadvantage.

I never envisaged that at 24, I would be starting my own business working as a sport psychology trainer and performance coach.
I now coach and train executives to develop team cohesion, open communication, manage stress and improve health, fitness and well being and assist athletes to gain a competitive edge in their chosen sport. I work with elite high school athletes to facilitate their finding a balance between achievement in academia and their sporting endeavours.

The dedication of educators combined with a curriculum that is so experiential gave me confidence to establish a private practice drawing on my previous professional and personal experience. My work is split between two passions, providing grief counselling to men who have partners with cancer and corporate coaching to middle managers, as individuals and in groups, to assist them become more effective people managers.

I completed the combined Registration Program and Graduate Diploma of Counselling. Through ACAP, I was able to find placements that suited me and was offered employment at one of them. Having the opportunity to discuss any learning or questions with my primary supervisor helped me to grow professionally. Through secondary supervision I was also able to learn how to perform specific testing and use these in my practice. The support and availability of my supervisors made me feel more confident in the work environment and able to communicate my role as a Psychologist.

I chose ACAP's Program as it not only met all requirements for registration but also had the practical orientation that was invaluable.
After Registration my local GP asked if I would be interested in counselling at his practice. I accepted and teamed up with another psychologist. Two years later we have moved from the GP's practice to our own premises. We have formed great relationships in our community with doctors, schools, community centres and others.

I had successfully worked in Europe as an occupational psychologist. However I took the opportunity to live in Sydney for a year to enrol at ACAP and complement my UK psychotherapy training. The range of subjects offered, together with the opportunity for practise and integration of skills was excellent. Since leaving ACAP, I have set up my own business and offer small group workshops and one to one counselling for personal change.

After attending university in Germany I came to ACAP. It was so refreshing. Hands on experience, great trainers and people from all over the world! In one class we counted eight different cultures! Learning in small groups was encouraging and supportive. As an international student ACAP enables you to study and still have time to get to know this great country.

I chose ACAP as I was impressed with the practical nature of the mode of teaching and assignments. In particular, I liked the idea of role-plays and self-critiques. Such opportunities provided aspiring counsellors a hands-on experience during the course itself, thereby preparing one greatly for actual working life.

My ACAP experience was excellent. It was so wonderful attending intimate classes, meeting interesting people from diverse backgrounds and having the opportunity to communicate my opinions to others and learn from theirs. After completing my PhD, I started teaching and gradually drifted into the psychology and counselling fields, where I've now had over 20 years of experience. ACAP has given me the opportunity to study the theory of what I'm practising, and that too from thousands of kilometres away. This is giving me an enriching perspective and context to my work and life. I find ACAP's faculty and staff very professional, responsive and always encouraging.

I used to work for a large marketing company where I did client negotiations, statistical reporting and financial planning. The bottom line was more important than the people. I wanted a change where people were the priority.
ACAP has given me the opportunity to drive my next career in that direction. The College leads by example - here people always come first.
