Bachelor Of Applied Social Science (Counselling)Availability: Sydney Campus, Brisbane Campus, Melbourne Campus, Distance, Online The Bachelor of Applied Social Science responds to industry demands for graduates who can work effectively with people, possess a well-rounded education, who understand and can use practical and theoretical social science, and who can think critically and analytically. Students choose a specialisation to address their interests and professional development needs. Practicums complement the specialisation and provide real workplace experience. Graduates will be reflective practitioners, well suited for employment in an extensive range of private and public sector industries. Most importanly, they will understand the social and environmental contexts of the people with whom they work and the organisations they work within. *Students who choose a Specialisation Course complete these compulsory specialisation modules and select two other modules within this specialisation. On completionThis degree meets the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) minimum training standards. Graduates may apply for membership of State and/or National Counselling and Psychotherapy Associations and/or the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers Inc (AIWCW). Graduates who have 500 hours supervised practice in professional counselling, and a current caseload of at least 3 clients, can apply to enter the Master of Counselling (UWS). ArticulationGraduates can articulate into the Australian Catholic University National (ACU National) Bachelor of Social Work two-year course. This course is designed for students who already have a three-year degree. The Graduates can also articulate into ACU National's Graduate Diploma of Psychology. To meet the entry requirements ACAP graduates need to have completed two ACU subjects as the last two electives within the ACAP bachelor degree. This course will prepare graduates for an APS (Australian Psychological Society) approved fourth year in Psychology. How to ApplyIt is strongly recommended that you apply well in advance of the term in which you plan to commence studying. Enrolment must be completed two weeks prior to the start of each term.
