Michael Shea

Meet ACAP Graduate Michael Shea

Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling)*, which he studied online, in 2009. He is studying to become a teacher and has his own counselling practice, Counselling and Life Management Skills (CALMS).

Why did you choose ACAP?

I chose ACAP because of the convenient delivery methods and the time-frame of the courses.

Describe your ACAP experience.

The teachers were all very approachable and the online delivery suited my needs. I found the online access easy and the forums very supportive.

How has your ACAP qualification benefited you?

Studying at ACAP has afforded me a greater understanding of the human condition. It has allowed me to expand into areas of professional development which were previously beyond my reach; I now have my own counselling practice.

Since having completed the Bachelor of Applied Social Science I have completed four diplomas - in Youth, Disability, Community Services and Community Services Coordination. I am now currently studying a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) at the University of Southern Queensland.

What are your plans for the future?

I am currently teaching adults and I hope to attain a teaching position. Perhaps I'll become a university lecturer.

How has studying with ACAP benefited you?

What are you waiting for? The life you are living is only so long. If you wait any longer you will regret it.

*ACAP now offers both a Bachelor of Applied Social Science and a Bachelor of Counselling in the place of the Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling).
