Group Work and Domestic Violence

VET Diploma Level Subject

This subject is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to plan, facilitate and evaluate a group process within the context of family and domestic violence clients. Students will apply the interpersonal skills developed in previous subjects to identify client needs, develop rapport with group participants and facilitate the group process.

Learning Elements

The unit of competency CHCGRP002 Plan and conduct group activities contains four elements or learning outcomes. You will learn to:

  • Evaluate group activities

The unit of competency CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to family and domestic violence contains three elements or learning outcomes. You will learn to:

  • Adopt work practices that support interactions with those affected by domestic and family violence
  • Identify client needs
  • Respond to client needs

Subject Duration and Workload

This subject involves a total of 168 hours per term of study which translates to 14 hours per week for the subject. The subject has a course work component, teacher contact, research, related study activities, and completion of assessment tasks.
