 Q1. What is changing and why?

The course, CHC52008 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management), has been replaced by a revised course, CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management).  All Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) across Australia, such as ACAP, will be working on introducing the new qualification to replace the CHC52008 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management).

 

 Q2. What is the difference between the two courses?

The course is significantly different. The main changes are:

  1. Mandatory work placement;
  2. Introduction of different course units; and
  3. Additional assessment tasks 

 Q3. Is the CHC52008 qualification still accepted to get  work? 

Yes. The current course you are studying continues to be recognised by the Community Services Industry. It continues to be accepted for articulation into ACAP's higher education courses as per current arrangements.  It continues to be recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).  

 

 Q4. Can I complete the course CHC52008 Diploma of  Community Services (Case Management)? 

  • If you commenced your study before Trimester 2 2015 you will have up until the end of Trimester 3 2016;
  • If you commenced your study in Trimester 2 2015 or Trimester 3 2015  you will have up until the end of Trimester 1 2016.

 

Q5. Why are there different time frames for completion depending on when study was commenced?

ASQA has determined the dates when the course CHC52008 will be phased out and has made provision for a longer period to be permitted for students who commenced their course before the 1 April 2015.  

Q6.  What do I do if I know that I can't complete in the timeframe that I have?

At this time, it may help you to know that ACAP is currently developing the replacing course CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) with a view to having it available for offer to students to transition into as soon as practical (subject to regulatory approval processes).

The College will be holding a series of information sessions on campus in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and online at different times in Trimester 3 2015. A timetable of the information sessions can be found here.
