Welcome back to HSA for 2017
The 2016 Student Satisfaction Survey for Health Skills Australia has revealed a far more satisfied student body than previous years. In terms of overall satisfaction, 73% of students indicated that they were satisfied with their studies at the college with 77% indicating that they felt they belonged to a community of students committed to learning.
Students believed their course helped them to acquire job related knowledge and skills (86%) and sharpened their critical and analytical thinking skills (82%). The student portal was also easy to use for online enrolment, submitting assignments, checking results and participate in forums (81%).
Most students were satisfied with HSA services, especially with library staff (80%), 74% felt they were treated fairly and equitably, and 76% stated that teaching staff were accessible and helpful. IT services, however, only rated 58% satisfaction and the IT Help Desk only 60%. Closer examination of the rating for IT services showed that the Blackburn campus WIFI issues was the main contributor for the decreased satisfaction.
In terms of facilities, on campus Student lounge areas rated 65% satisfaction, whereas the on campus teaching facilities were rated at 80%.
In the first few weeks of term 1, HSA will post an action plan on the student portal addressing the issues raised by students in the survey. Students will be kept informed throughout the year with updates to the action plan.
