What can I study?

You can enrol in a vocational education training qualification, undergraduate qualification, postgraduate qualification or a single module in Community Services, Counselling and Communication and People Management & Leadership.

How can I study?

There are two choice of study modes:

Yes. You select your preferred study mode for each module you enrol in each term.

What support is given to flexible delivery students?

ACAP has a dedicated support person who provides assistance and support to Distance and Online students.

How does student placements work?

ACAP's Bachelor of Applied Social Science and Graduate Diploma of Counselling include student placements (unpaid periods of work experience) that must be completed prior to graduation.

When it comes to researching a Placement you need to take into account what your personal interests and future career aspirations are. It is best that you find a Placement that will suit your individual needs and serve to extend your personal and professional development. Also, you need to be adequately supervised on Placement to ensure that your have an appropriate balance between being challenged and supported.

Does ACAP Recognise advanced standing?

Yes. A student can apply for Advanced Standing in a course through either Credit Transfer, for formal learning experience, or Recognition of Prior (RPL) Learning for informal and non-formal learning.

Can I start whenever I want?

You need to commence in one of our 3 terms (see following).

  • Term 1: February
  • Term 2:June
  • Term 3: September

What are weekend modules?

Throughout the year, the College's campuses offer a range of modules delivered over three weekends. These can be undertaken individually as a short course or as part of a qualification.

What is full-time study?

Three modules per term (except for the Master of Applied Social Science - 2 modules per term).

What is part-time study?

Two modules or less per term (except Master of Applied Social Science - 1 module per term).

Do I have to enrol in a full qualification?

You are welcome to commence with just one or two modules as a 'taste-test'. If you then wish to continue you can upgrade into a qualification.

Can I change my mode of study at any time?

You can choose your mode of study at the beginning of each term for each module. Once term commences you must complete each module in the mode in which you commenced.

Are the courses recognised?

 ACAP offers accredited qualifications in the Australian VET and higher education sectors.  

What is VETAB accredited?

Our Certificate IV, Diploma qualifications are government accredited by the NSW Vocational Education Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) and recognised nationally.

What is higher education accredited?

ACAP's courses are accredited and recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and are listed on the state registers of higher education in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.  These online registers can be found at the following location: http://www.aqf.edu.au/register.htm#nonaccred.

Is  ACAP registered to provide courses to overseas students?

Yes, ACAP has a number of courses that International students can enrol in, and are registered on the Australian Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). A list of courses that are accredited for delivery to overseas students can be found at the following website. http://cricos.deewr.gov.au

Are all qualifications available nationally and internationally?

Not all courses are available at all campuses. Recognition of awards varies from State to State, and is constantly being reviewed. Please check the mode of delivery, location and accreditation with the Course Information Centre at the time of application.

What is the cost?

ACAP prices its qualifications per module. Follow the link for full details of module costs. You select, enrol and pay for your modules each term.

How can I pay?

You pay prior to each term commencing, either by full payment or via FEE-HELP.

Students who are eligible and planning to study a higher education award can apply for FEE-HELP.  FEE-HELP is a loan provided to eligible fee-paying students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees.

What is FEE-Help?

If you are an Australian Citizen or hold a humanitarian visa and are thinking of studying one of ACAP’s higher education courses you are eligible to receive FEE-HELP, a government loan given to eligible fee-paying students to help pay all or part of their tuition fees. What government assistance is available to me?

Austudy or Abstudy is available to ACAP students if you are a full-time student over 25 years of age and meet Centrelink's criteria. Contact Centrelink for more information.

In August 2004 the Australian Minister for Education, Science and Training approved the College's application to become a Higher Education Provider (HEP) under the Higher Education Support Act 2003. This has many positive implications for the College and its current and new students.

This represents the highest level of recognition of the College's standing as an education institution. The College was among the very first applicants to be approved by the Minister, after thorough scrutiny of its credentials, viability and reputation. The College will be reviewed and audited by the body that audits Australia's universities.

The College's Higher Education awards are fully recognised, nationally and internationally, at a level equivalent to universities.

When should I apply for admission?

It is strongly recommended that you apply for admission well in advance of term commencing. Applications are due two weeks prior to the start of each term. Late applications are only accepted if places are available.

If I were to say anything to those thinking about studying at ACAP, it would be this: of all the colleges and institutions that promise you the world, when it comes to learning, ACAP offers comprehensive programs, experienced, professional trainers, flexibility and excellent resources.
