Meet Professor Margaret Carter, Discipline Chair for Counselling, who took a few minutes to tell us a bit about herself.

What are your interests?

Cycling; walking; volunteering to help advance and maintain the prevent cyberbullying in higher education website; writing children’s story books about social behaviour; researching about meaningful student engagement in higher education; and travelling.

What do you like most about Brisbane?

The pace, the wildlife, and the climate. The Gallery of Modern Art, The Planetarium, Newstead House. The proximity to the Gold Coast and to Tambourine Mountain.

Do you support any sporting teams?

Australian Women’s National Cricket Team; Brisbane Lions Men’s and Women’s Teams; Davis Cup Team.

What do you like most about teaching?

Student’s growing and developing in their understanding and appreciation of the purpose of counsellor education; students’ developing their counsellor identity through high quality counsellor education courses; graduating students who make a positive difference and contribution to the counselling profession; advocating the counselling profession with students throughout their counsellor education studies; mentoring new graduates into the counselling profession.
