In September, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) will host a joint biannual counselling and counselling education conference in Melbourne. ACAP is proud to be a major sponsor of this event and welcomes participation from its student body.
The three-day event links the considerable expertise of counselling and teaching professionals both nationally and internationally.
Exploring the theme ‘Transformation through Relationships’, the conference is co-hosted by the Christian Counsellors Association of Australia (CCAA), the Australian College of Counsellor and Psychotherapy Educators (formerly SCAPE) and the Association of Psychological and Educational Counsellors of Asia Pacific (APECA).
Professor Denis O’Hara, Head of ACAP’s School of Counselling, is an Invited Speaker and will present ‘What Makes Counselling Counselling? Implications for Professional Identity and Training’.
The ACAP faculty welcomes the conference theme of therapist-client, teacher-student relationships, and is also proud to be hosting a full day APECA event on 9 September at our Melbourne campus.
“It’s a milestone year for the Association of Psychological and Educational Counsellors of Asia-Pacific (APECA), which marks its 40th anniversary at the event,” said Jenny Coburn, lecturer at the ACAP School of Counselling and Academic Convenor of undergraduate programs.
“Our sponsorship is testimony to the strong relationship ACAP has developed with APECA over a number of years.”
