CHC0404P Crisis Intervention and Case Management

VET Diploma Level Subject

This subject is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to provide crisis intervention support and facilitate all aspects of case planning. Skills and knowledge developed in this subject are intended to be applied in a range of community service contexts.

Learning Elements

The unit of competency CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations contains four elements or learning outcomes. You will learn to:

  • Identify imminent crisis situations
  • Address immediate safety concerns
  • Provide referral for crisis intervention support
  • Care for self

The unit of competency CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management contains four elements or learning outcomes. You will learn to:

  • Determine appropriate response to case management in accordance with organisation and legislative requirements
  • Conduct case management meetings
  • Develop an appropriate case management plan
  • Monitor and review case work activities and processes

Subject Duration and Workload

This subject involves a total of 144 hours per term of study including course work component, teacher contact, research related study activities, translating to approximately 12 hours study per week. Students will need to allocate additional time for the completion of assessment activities related to the subject.
