We are delighted to have Dr Kate Briggs present Melbourne's first 2014 alumni professional development seminar. Dr Briggs is a practicing psychoanalyst and member of the Lacan Circle of Melbourne, and will be exploring Trauma, Attachment and Psychotherapy on Tuesday 1 April 2014, 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Melbourne Campus of the Australian College of Applied Psychology.
Today the insistence of trauma tends to take the place of the question of desire as it might have figured in previous times. For this reason, psychotherapy has needed to redefine to sharpen, its approach both to the engagement of the subject and the concept of the real, that which escapes representation. This talk will consider some perspectives on trauma and attachment in psychotherapy today.
Dr Briggs has a doctorate in psychoanalytic studies and the experience of years of teaching and clinical work in Melbourne and the United States. She has worked as a Clinical Specialist and consulted widely in the field of social welfare, presented at international conferences and published in analytic journals. Dr Briggs was awarded the 2010 Teaching Excellence Award for her outstanding contribution to education and is a lecturer at the Melbourne campus of ACAP.
This seminar is open to alumni only. Please note that bookings for this event are now closed. Read about our other upcoming alumni events.
