About Creative Arts in Counselling
Many clients are unable to articulate or describe the lived experience of their worlds. Dialogue, words and discussion are futile and a way to articulate what the client wants to address or change in counselling eludes them. The creative therapist seeks to create a safe and protected space in therapy for the client to explore their experienced inner and outer worlds without judgement.
About the Session
In using an integrative play / sandplay approach, you will explore how the narrative between client and therapist influences the co-transferential space. Working in groups, you will playfully explore the shared experience. All exercises are specifically designed not expose, intimidate or disclose embarrassing details about you. They have been used to enhance sensitivity and awareness of the counsellor to the complexity of treatment planning
You will gain the most out of this session if you are interested in self-exploration and growth, if you are asking questions about developing future approaches in your counselling understanding and if you are wishing to experience an introduction to creative therapies.
Creative therapies may be for you if you:
• Are well motivated
• Are enthusiastic about working in a creative modality
• Have adequate emotional stability and ego strength to undergo, or stay with, the feelings that arise
• Are open to change and growth
• Are not currently experiencing emotional outbursts, high levels of life stress or anger
• Can distinguish reality and fantasy, and have the ability to move between the imaginary and ordinary worlds readily
Please bring a journal and writing materials for your recording of the process, responses and ideas.
By attending this event you will receive a certificate crediting you with 2.5 PD hours.
