Introduction to Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Natalie Cabrera is a Clinical Psychologist and an Educational and Developmental Psychologist, specialising in the area of child and adolescent mental health and has extensive experience working in a variety of settings including; inpatient adolescent mental health, outpatient child and adolescent mental health services, disability and child protection services. Natalie has been involved in the establishing and running of both inpatient and outpatient Dialectical Behaviour Therapy programs.Natalie is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. She works with a number of universities as a guest lecturer and supervisor. She is a board approved supervisor and has a private practice supervising psychologists in all stages of their training.
Gavin Moffitt is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working in both outpatient and inpatient adolescent mental health services and has had experience running Dialectical Behaviour Therapy programs in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Gavin is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and is a board approved supervisor providing supervision to students on clinical placements and Psychologists within mental health services.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive psychological treatment that assists persons struggling with complex problems, including recurrent suicidality, self-harm, and problems regulating emotions. It is the most widely researched treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms and is often used to assist persons struggling with a variety of other problems including substance related problems, eating disorders, and other difficulties with emotion regulation.
This 2-hour session will introduce you to the theory and research of DBT and key concepts to increase your understanding of the DBT framework, including the DBT structure, phases of treatment and an introduction to skills groups.
By attending this event you will receive a certificate crediting you with 2 CPE hours.
