Overview

With over a decade of experience in higher education, Luke is an experienced technologist and seasoned academic with a passion for emerging technology and teaching and guiding students through their studies.

Most recently he has designed ACAP's new and highly innovative Master of Information Technology (MIT).

I discovered a talent for teaching when I started instructing IT undergraduates as an honours student.

Seeing the excitement and sense of accomplishment on my students' faces as they secured their first IT jobs was tremendously fulfilling and is one of my motivations for constantly trying to provide the best educational experience that I can.

Biography

Luke’s expertise in various IT units, including programming, information systems, mobile development, web development, data visualization, and capstone projects, make him an ideal mentor for aspiring IT professionals.

He enjoys the opportunity to connect with students and help them achieve their academic goals. His dedication to teaching was recognised early on in his career, and he quickly rose through the ranks to become the Learning & Technology Coordinator and then the Academic Coordinator of Information Technology at La Trobe University. In 2020, his innovative approaches to enhancing the educational experience for students led him to achieve the prestigious status of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academic (SFHEA).

Beyond his teaching duties, Luke remains actively engaged in research in the area of computational astrophysics, with a specialization in supernova remnants. His work has earned him international recognition, and he has presented at several international conferences and published over 35 scientifically refereed papers, boasting 800+ citations. His expertise has also earned him the role of scientific referee for some of the world’s top journals, a testament to his unwavering commitment to advancing scientific knowledge.
