INHERENT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The statements below specify the course requirements of the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration for student admission and progression.
Inherent requirements domains

• The ability to perform tasks or functions which are a necessary part of the job productivity and quality requirements;
• The ability to work effectively in the team or other type of work organisation concerned; and
• The ability to work safely.
In assessing whether an adjustment to a unit or course in which a student is enrolled, or proposes to be enrolled, is reasonable, ACAP is entitled to maintain the academic requirements of the unit or course, and other requirements or components that are inherent in or essential to its nature (Disability Standards for Education). There are three domains of inherent requirements in the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration.
- Ethics
- Communication
- Cognition
Inherent requirement statements
Business management is a professional practice in which compliance with laws, guidelines and policies and procedures is required to ensure responsible and professional conduct.
During their studies, students must understand the requirements of and demonstrate ethical behaviour in their professional and academic practice. This may include, but is not limited to, complying with relevant NPI policies and procedures, handling confidential information appropriately, demonstrating a capacity to act honestly and within recognised professional protocols.
Inherent requirement statements
Units of study within the Business Administration stream require effective written and verbal communication skills.
This includes a capacity to read and comprehend a range of complex data and texts related to professional practice and to develop written communication appropriate to a range of audiences.
Additionally, throughout the course students must demonstrate and ability to listen, understand and respond to/using verbal communication in an effective and timely manner.
Inherent requirement statements
Students are required to have the capacity to understand a range of complex business theories and protocols and provide competent analysis and timely advice. As such, throughout their studies students must demonstrate an ability to: comprehend a range of material including theoretical, mathematical, abstract and contextual; and integrate acquired knowledge into their professional practice.
