Responding to industry and student demand, ACAP is expanding its investment in South Australia

(Adelaide, Australia November 17, 2022) – Leading independent education provider, the Australian College of Applied Professions (ACAP) is today announcing the launch of its new Adelaide campus.

Located centrally at 15-19 Franklin Street, Adelaide, the new campus will open in February 2023 as part of ACAP’s 40th year celebrations and continues a strong legacy of delivering accredited courses in psychology and counselling.

The custom-built Adelaide campus will enable students to study ACAP’s renowned counselling and psychology courses as well as the newly offered Bachelor of Psychological Science (and Criminology) on campus.

With SA Health reports suggesting that one-in-five people living in South Australia have experienced or are currently living with mental health issues, ACAP will help to deliver more professionally trained psychology and counselling experts to meet the needs of South Australians.

Latest Seek data shows more than 4,000 job openings for psychologists in Australia, with The National Skills Commission’s Labour Market insights projections indicating a 22.8% increase in psychology jobs by 2025, and a 14.2% growth in counselling jobs by 2026 – a sign that the demand for more experts in these fields is set to continue over the years to come.

ACAP CEO George Garrop highlighted his excitement around the new campus opening and expanded educational offerings that ACAP will provide students from Adelaide and across South Australia.

“We are privileged to bring ACAP’s 40 years of expertise and our unique applied and human-centric approach to course delivery to a fresh, new Adelaide campus. Right now, Australia needs more psychology and counselling professionals, and our new Adelaide campus launch is just one show of our commitment to training the next generation of mental health professionals,” said Mr Garrop.
“With our deep grounding in psychology and human services, we are also expanding our Adelaide course offerings, providing new opportunities for school leavers, career switchers, or those who are curious to learn skills in psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and more.”

The Dean of ACAP, Professor Christopher Klopper, said the new location would provide a contemporary learning environment of a world-class standard.
