ACAP annual conference offering collaboration and inspiration

Australia, 17 October 2023 – With less than two weeks before this year’s Annual Conference, ACAP is reminding all staff, students, alumni, professionals and partners to register for “an exciting showcase and exchange of scholarship and research”.

The 2023 Conference ‘Scholarship in Action: Impacting Educational Practice’ is a free event that will be held as a hybrid model (on campus and online), on Wednesday 1 November.

It is an opportunity for the ACAP community to come together to network and share scholarly knowledge and research, either face-to-face in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, or across Australia online.

ACAP CEO George Garrop says this year’s conference will focus on collaboration and inspiration, with keynote speakers exploring the principles of Student-Staff Partnerships (SSP).

“ACAP’s annual conference is an opportunity to bring together our vibrant and engaged community of professionals, academics and students to learn from each other, share research and exchange knowledge across a range of related disciplines to help inform our future practice,” Mr Garrop says.

“Our keynote presentation from the Western Sydney University (WSU) Student Partners team will outline their innovative approach to student-staff partnership (SSP) in areas including curriculum creation, micro-credential development, academic integrity, marketing/communications, and educational research.

“It will no doubt set the tone for the conference, which invites curiosity and consideration through shared learnings such as these.”

The Keynote Abstract, ‘Improving Educational Practice Through Partnership with Students: Co-Inquiry as Scholarship’, states:

“SSP both represents, and embraces, the centrality of students and staff together – a liminal third space – where we are colleagues alongside each other exercising curiosity, while we are learning, puzzling, challenging, making, and aspiring to transform our collective educational futures."

The conference runs from 9am to 6pm AEDT, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided at each campus, as well as post-conference networking drinks.
The full program will be available from 27 October.
