The ACAP Psychology Clinic was awarded a Bronze Service Provider at the Australian Pride in Health + Wellbeing Awards held last week.

The awards ceremony recognised outstanding LGBTQ+ inclusion within health and wellbeing organisations across the country. It is produced by Pride in Health + Wellbeing, the national not-for-profit inclusion program for the health, wellbeing, human services, and community care sector, spearheaded by Australia’s largest LGBTQ health organisation ACON.

ACAP Psychology Clinic Director, Deb Gavan, said: “The ACAP Psychology Clinic provides a safe environment for LGBTQ+ clients and community to access high-quality affordable services. We are thrilled to receive a bronze in the Pride in Health and Wellbeing Awards!”

Inclusion at ACAP

As well as being a college that’s committed to equity and inclusion, the ACAP Psychology clinic celebrates, values, and includes people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies, and abilities. The clinic also offers specific LGBTQ+ services, facilitated by students.

Kathryn Nicholson Perry, Associate Dean Learning and Teaching and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Chair, said:

“We are proud to graduate health professionals with an awareness and understanding of our LGBTQ+ communities. Receiving this award is a proud moment for ACAP, and a direct result of the work we have undertaken at the clinic to create an inclusive environment where all clients are empowered to be their true selves."
About the ACAP Psychology clinic
