Big Picture Learning

Shape your future beyond the classroom with the Big Picture Learning pathway.

In partnership with Big Picture Education Australia and participating secondary schools, ACAP University College recognises the International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC) as an alternative pathway into undergraduate study without requiring an ATAR.

The Big Picture pathway provides a more personalised and self-directed learning experience, supporting students to explore their interests while developing practical skills, critical thinking and real-world capabilities.

What is the International Big Picture Learning Credential?

The International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC) offers a personalised approach to assessment that recognises the unique strengths, experiences and capabilities of secondary school students beyond traditional exam-based results. Designed to provide a more holistic view of student achievement, the IBPLC values not only academic development, but also critical thinking, communication, initiative and real-world learning.

Because no two Big Picture students follow the same pathway, assessment is tailored to capture each learner’s distinctive capabilities and growth. The result is a richer and more meaningful representation of student achievement that helps prepare learners for further study, future careers and positive contributions to their communities.

Project Based Learning

The Big Picture approach focuses on personalised, project-based learning that recognises each student’s individual strengths, growth and achievements, rather than comparing students against one another through rankings or scaled results.

Students graduate with a personalised Learner Profile that showcases their achievements, experiences and capabilities. Supported by evidence of their work through an interactive online portfolio, the profile provides a more holistic representation of each student’s academic development, practical skills and personal strengths.
