Accredited by LPAB, ACAP’s GDLP offers a modern, practice-based alternative developed with legal industry leaders.
ACAP University College has announced the expansion of its Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP) in New South Wales, providing law graduates with a new, industry-designed pathway to supervised legal practice.
Developed in collaboration with leading legal professionals, the ACAP GDLP bridges the gap between academic study and the realities of modern legal work.
Following its success in Victoria since 2023, the course’s expansion into NSW, with accreditation by the Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB), comes at a time of increasing focus on reform in practical legal training.
LPAB’s own review of Practical Legal Training found that only 43% of recent graduates considered assignments were practical and career relevant with only 40% considering that methods of teaching were satisfactory.
ACAP’s course directly responds to these findings, offering a program designed in partnership with industry and taught by practitioners who remain active in the field. This ensures students graduate practice-ready, learning the tools and methods currently shaping the legal profession.
“This program has been designed by the profession, for the profession,” said Desi Vlahos, Course Leader for the GDLP at ACAP. “Our course was built in consultation with experienced practitioners to ensure graduates leave not just qualified, but genuinely ready to contribute to their firms and clients from day one.”
Delivered through a blend of in-person workshops and self-directed study, the NSW GDLP builds from foundational skills to applied practice, ensuring graduates develop both technical capability and professional confidence.
The course aligns with new requirements in NSW, meaning 15 days of the 14 weeks of coursework will include in-person tuition. NSW GDLP participants will also undergo a placement as part of the course.
The course will offer three intakes in 2026, commencing in March, July and November, with workshops delivered in Sydney.
With its expansion into NSW, ACAP continues to deliver practical, industry-connected education that prepares students for real impact from the moment they enter the profession.
