Enrolled International Student Resources

Helpful information for international students already enrolled at ACAP.
International students

International students are an essential part of the ACAP student body bringing diversity, experience and enthusiasm to each campus.

Living and studying in a different country is both exciting and challenging. Our Student Services team aim to make this transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

If you are a Student Visa holder who is studying at ACAP, there are some additional rules and responsibilities covered by the Education Services of Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework that you must abide by during your studies. These additional rules and responsibilities are a condition of your enrolment at ACAP.

Key Information

Orientation

International Student Orientation sessions are held online during orientation week of each trimester. For more information, view the orientation page. Attendance at the orientation session is compulsory for International students.

International students are required to notify the College within 7 days of any change of address as a condition of their student visa.

Your address can be updated on the Student Portal under the ‘My personal details’ section.

Please ensure you provide us with your current address, current mobile phone number and personal email address.

Please also ensure that you promptly respond to any email from the College asking you to confirm your contact details. Failure to keep the College informed of your current contact details may affect your international student visa.

Course Enrolment

The compulsory study periods at ACAP are Trimester 1, Trimester 2 and Trimester 3.

You must maintain full-time enrolment in each of the compulsory study periods to maintain your course progression and complete your course within the duration of your Confirmation of Enrolment.

You must ensure that you re-enrol for each trimester before the re-enrolment cut-off date.

Variation of Enrolment

International students are advised that deferring or suspending their enrolment or withdrawing from their course may affect their student visa.

You must apply to defer, suspend or withdraw by submitting the appropriate International Student form found in the International Students section of the A-Z Forms page to the International Student Coordinator at [email protected].

As a condition of your Student Visa, you are only permitted to enrol in a maximum of 33% of your entire course online and you must enrol in at least one on campus unit in each compulsory study period.

Course Progression

You must complete your award within the duration of your Confirmation of Enrolment. Your progression through the course will be monitored by the College and you will be notified if you are deemed to be at risk of making unsatisfactory course progression.

If you are identified as being at risk you will be required to take part in the College’s intervention strategy which will be negotiated with you and detailed in the College’s academic intervention and support agreement.

Please note that if you do not meet satisfactory performance standards following participation in the College’s intervention strategy, your progression may be reported to the Department of Home Affairs and your Student Visa may be affected. For more information see the Academic Progression Procedure .

If you feel that you are having difficulties with any of your coursework, the College strongly advises you to contact Student Engagement for assistance as soon as possible.

Fees

New students are required to pay a non-refundable Enrolment Fee of $250 (payable once only) and to purchase visa length Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)* in order to have their enrolment finalised and Confirmation of Enrolment issued.

New students must also pay their first trimester tuition fees in full two weeks prior to the trimester commencement date. Continuing students are required to pay their tuition fees in full by the first day of each trimester.

When you re-enrol through the my.navitas-professional.edu.au student portal an invoice will be generated for you. Please allow adequate time for any overseas payments to be processed before the re-enrolment cut-off date.

*OSHC is compulsory insurance that provides cover for the cost of medical and hospital care which you may incur while in Australia. You are invited to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Our preferred OSHC provider is Allianz Global Assistance OSHC.  Alternatively, students may want to purchase OSHC directly from an OSHC provider.  Information can be obtained here.

Deferral

An International student may apply to defer or suspend enrolment in their course. Students who wish to defer or suspend their studies must complete and lodge the Application for International Student Withdrawal from Course of Study. International students are advised that deferring or suspending their enrolment may affect their student visa.

The college will only consider the application to defer the enrolment of an international student on the grounds of compassionate or compelling circumstances. It is a condition of your Student Visa that you are not permitted to defer your enrolment unless you are able to provide documentation which supports your application for compassionate or compelling circumstances. If you feel you have experienced these special circumstances please contact the International Student Coordinator (National) or International Student Contact Officer on your campus to discuss your situation.

It is also recommended that you contact the Department of Home Affairs to discuss how any variation of enrolment may affect your student visa.

Complaints or Appeals

If you have a complaint about an aspect of your studies or should you wish to appeal a decision made by the College you are encouraged to talk to the staff member first to try to resolve your issue. If you are unable to resolve your issue and would like to escalate the matter please refer to either the Student Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure found on the policies page of the website.
