Discipline of Psychological Sciences Scholarships

Access Scholarships

Each year there are up to six (6) Access Scholarships available for students commencing the Bachelor of Psychological Science (BPsychSc), Bachelor of Psychological Science and Counselling (BPyschScCo), or Bachelor of Psychological Science (BPsychScCr). There are two different types of Access Scholarships and although students may be eligible for both, only one can be awarded to any eligible student.

1 per trimester
Enrolled in BPsychSc; BPsychScCo, or BPsychScCr; completion of application (see below) Up to 6 core units

*The value of the Access Scholarships is equivalent to 25% of the course fees.

Eligibility

Scholarships are awarded by the Discipline of Psychological Science Scholarship Committee based on the following:

  1. Rural/Regional Access Scholarship – Evidence of home residence in an area that meets the ABS criteria for rural, remote or regional Australia 
    OR
    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Access Scholarship – Membership of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  2. Students must be enrolled to commence in the BPsychSc, BPsychScCo, or BPsychScCr to be eligible to apply for Access Scholarships. Applications from non-enrolled applicants will not be considered.

Application Process

  1. The closing date for applications is 5pm Friday week 0 of each Trimester, that is, 5pm Friday of the week prior to the Trimester commencing
  2. Submit the completed application form for a scholarship to apply@acap.edu.au with the subject line “Application for Commencing Access Scholarship” together with the following attachments.

    a. Statement of relevant academic achievement
    b. 500-word statement describing why the applicant wants to study psychology
    c. One-page statement (maximum) with additional information relevant to the application. This may include evidence of breadth of interests and achievements (e.g. music, sport, creative arts) or evidence of community involvement and leadership. Additional information of more than one page will not be considered.

  3. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 5pm Friday week 1 of Trimester

Continuation Scholarships

Each year there are a number of Continuation Scholarships available across the different programs in the Discipline of Psychological Science.

Application Process

Students do not need to apply for the Continuation Scholarships. They are awarded by the Discipline of Psychological Science Scholarship Committee based on criteria specific to the program the student is enrolled in. Eligible students will be contacted directly about these awards. Students who hold an Access Scholarship or have previously received three (3) Continuation Scholarships are not eligible.

Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology 2 per year Only for students that complete BPsychSc (H) at ACAP 1 core unit
Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology Practice 1 per year Only for students that complete GradDipProfPysch at ACAP 1 core unit
Master of Psychology (Clinical) 1 per year Only for students that completed BPsychSc (H) at ACAP 2 core units
