VET STUDENT TUITION FEE FUNDING OPTIONS

VET Students (study in 2017 and beyond)

Due to changes in legislation, VET Student Loans (VSL) will commence on 1 January 2017, replacing the old VET FEE HELP scheme.

VET Student Loans is a Commonwealth Government loan scheme that assists eligible students in eligible Diploma courses to pay all or part of their VET tuition fee. The eligible courses are listed on the VET Student Loans website.

If you are eligible for VET Student Loans assistance, the Australian Government pays the amount of the loan direct to the approved training provider and records a debt against your Tax File Number with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

You are required to repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once you start earning above the minimum repayment threshold. The current minimum threshold may be found on the government’s StudyAssist website. Voluntary repayments can be made at any time directly to the ATO, regardless of income. A VET Student Loan may impact on your credit rating.

For more information about fees, visit the Fees & Funding page.
