Discipline of Psychological Sciences Examinations

Important Information

Psychology units that have end of trimester exams will host them entirely online. Exam details are now found within the Student Portal Class Spaces alongside all other assessment information. If there is any uncertainty, please refer to your unit outline or contact your educator.

Examination Rules

Students completing any online exams conducted will be subject to the ACAP Online Examination Rules.

Technical Requirements for the Exams

You will need access to a device connected to the internet to be able to participate in the online exams. If you have already successfully completed an online quiz during trimester, then the device you used then will be sufficient. There is general information about IT requirements and sources of support available by clicking here.

We recommend that all students clear the cache of their preferred browser prior to undertaking the online exams. This can help to prevent the majority of quiz loading issues. There are instructions about how to do this here: ACAP How To: Clear cache and cookies and reset browser.

During the exam period there will be technical support available on the days of exams between 8am and 5pm AEST. You may contact technical support by email on [email protected] or by telephoning (02) 9964 6322. Your unit coordinator will also be available between these hours on the day of the exam in case of difficulties. and their contact details are available on the respective unit class space on the Student Portal.

If you are unable to access the internet using a suitable device in your home or local area, you may be able to attend an ACAP campus to complete the exam using the campus WiFi or a College computer; however, it is possible that not all ACAP campuses will be open during the exam period. You need to submit the Application for Special Consideration to the exam coordinator at the examinations office at [email protected] before Week 9 of trimester indicating which campus you wish to access for this purpose. The exam coordinator will also be available between these hours on the day of the exam in case of difficulties.

Exam Timetable Clashes

If your exam is at the same time as another class, workshop, or exam for another unit in your program, it is advised that you attend your class or workshop so you meet attendance requirements.

Please email [email protected] to schedule an alternate exam session. Your request will be verified against your enrolment.

What if I am not able to sit my exam on the scheduled date and time?

Please note that special consideration and approval for deferred examinations is for unforeseen events as above. Scheduling a trip or holiday during the advertised exam period or incorrectly noting your exam date and time will not be considered.

If you require ongoing support including reasonable adjustments please refer the Student Engagement and AccessAbility information.

ACADEMIC consideration in Assessment

Academic Consideration may be granted in cases of illness, accident, bereavement, or other serious circumstances that have adversely affected a student’s studies. If you believe that your performance on an exam has been significantly impacted by the type of circumstances outlined in the policy, you may apply for grading consideration by submitting an application for consideration. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and you need to apply using the Academic Consideration in Assessment Form (online).
